Thermal expansion of the minerals in the CaO-Fe₂O₃-Al₂O₃ system

Abstract: CaO.Fe₂O₃, 2CaO.Fe₂O₃, and 4CaO.Al₂O₃.Fe₂O₃ were prepd. Coeffs. of thermal expansion were measured, and the linear expansion coeffs., α, in the range 20-1000° calcd. The values are: CaO.Fe₂O₃ 1.31, 2CaO.Fe₂O₃ 11.6 × 10^-6, and 4CaO.Al₂O₃.-Fe₂O₃ 9.8 × 10^-6/degree.
