Determination of silicon in O-(trimethylsilyl) derivatives of saccharides

Abstract: Si in some O-(trimethylsilyl) saccharides, O-(trimethylsilyl) polyols, (trimethylsilyl) amines, and trimethylsilyl esters of org. acids is detd. by hydrolysis of the sample to yield trimethylsilanol and hexamethyldisiloxane. The latter are swept by a stream of O into a combustion tube, where they are burned to SiO₂.
