Determination of trichlorobenzene isomers by gas chromatography

Abstract: All di-, tri-, and tetrachlorobenzene isomers are detd. in tech. trichlorobenzene by gas chromatography with 1,1,1 trichloro-2-methyl-2-propanol (I) as internal standard. An Et₂O soln. of sample is analyzed on a glass column (3.2 m. × 3 mm.) of Celite 545 contg. 15% poly(propylene adipate) and 2% H₃PO₄. The temp. was 145° and the carrier was N gas at a flow rate of 26 ml./min. Chromatograms of C₆H₆, PhCl, 1,3-C₆H₄Cl₂, 1,4-C₆H₄Cl₂, 1,2-C₆H₄Cl₂, 1,3,5-C₆H₃Cl₃, 1,2,4-C₆H₃Cl₃, 1,2,3-C₆H₃Cl₃, 1,2,3,5-C₆H₂Cl₄, 1,2,4,5-C₆H₂Cl₄, 1,2,3,4-C₆H₂Cl₄, and I are shown.
