The solubility of phenol in hydrotropic solutions

Abstract: The soly. of PhOH in the solns. of Na salicylate (I) and NaOBz were studied. Two-phase systems are not formed in a 0.26M soln. of I or a 0.29M soln. of NaOBz with PhOH. The better soly. of PhOH in solns. of I was attributed to easier formation of H bonds in the system I-H₂O-PhOH than in the system NaOBz-H₂O-PhOH.
