Determination of formic and acetic acids in the solutions after prehydrolysis of wood

Abstract: Both HCOOH and AcOH are extd. with Et2O and detd. according to Doehring (Papierfabrikant 41, 215 (1943)). After distn. HCOOH is oxidized by HgCl₂ and detd. according to Votocek (Tom´icek, Odmern´a anal´yza, 1949, p. 306 (C.A. 44, 8287c)).
