Determination of copper and zinc in certain pharmaceutical preparations by measurement of the intensity of back-scattered β-rays

Abstract: The back-scattering of β-particles was applied to the detn. of 6-8% CuSO₄.5H₂O in solns. used in gynecology and of 0.3-1.25% ZnSO₄.7H₂O in eye drops. The results are comparable (with approx. deviations, resp. 1% and 3.5%) with those obtained by standard iodometric and complexometric methods. The method is recommended, in serial routine analysis, for its simplicity, accuracy, and rapidity (1-5 min.). The T. (CA 60, 8638d) app. was used.
