Abstract: cf. C.A. 53, 2324i. Chromatographic and electrophoretic detns. of tryptic hydrolyzates in cat and rat hemoglobin are described. The major part of peptides in both hydrolyzates is of similar chromatographic and electrophoretic behavior, showing a certain analogy in microstructure of both proteins. In both proteins different fragments were detd. some contg. arginine and histidine, some contg. peptides without these amino acids. Also in both proteins a small no. of peptides derived from histidine were detd., which indicated that there is in the hemoglobin mol. a special arrangement of sequences contg. histidine. The no. of spots detd. electrochromatographically represented approx. one half of the fragments theoretically expected.
