Graphite indicator electrode for potentiometric neutralization titrations

J. Berčík

Slovak Technical University, Bratislava

Abstract: The behavior of graphite electrodes during neutralization titrations in aq. soln. in the presence of strong oxidn. compds. is described. A graphite electrode, with a calomel electrode, can be used for an indication of the titration curve. A graphite electrode, activated in H2O or in KMnO4 soln., acquires a linear relation between potential and pH. Because of low internal resistance, strength of the electrode, stability to oxidn. and redn., the graphite electrode can be applied even under unfavorable conditions.
