1,3-Dipolar cycloadditions of heterocycles. XIII. Cycloaddition of 9-anthracenecarbonitrile oxide to oxygen-containing heterocycles

Abstract:  Products and kinetic measurements of 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of 9-anthracenecarbonitrile oxide with 5,6-dimethoxycarbonyl-7-oxabicyclo-[2,2,l]hept-2-ene, l,4-oxa-l,4-dihydronaphthalene, 2,3- and 2,5-dihydro- furan, 2,3-dihydropyran, 3-methoxycarbonyl-2,3-dihydrofuran, and with 2-substituted l,3-dioxep-5-ene, where R is H, phenyl, methyl or 1,1-pentamethylene, are described. A diastereoisomeric pair of endo and exo adducts is formed, if R is a phenyl or methyl group.
