Isolation of a new heart-affecting glycoside from leaves of lily of the valley (Convallaria majalis)

Abstract: From dried leaves of lily of the valley, in addn. to convallatoxin and convallatoxol a new heart-affecting glycoside in cryst. form named glycoside B 3, was isolated, m. 187-90° (from MeOHEt₂O 1:1), [α]23D = -13.3 ± 2° (c = 0.976 in MeOH), Rf 0.54 (with isoamyl alc.-water as mobile aq. phase and Whatman paper No. 1).
