New complexanes. XXV. Polarographic study of mercury(II) chelates of ethylenediamine-N,N'-diacetic-N,N'-(2,2'-dialkanoic) acids

Abstract: By Polarographie investigation of the relationship E_1/2 = f (pH), the stability constants of mercury(II) complexes (I = 0.10; t = 20°C) were determined for four complexane derivatives of the type ethylenediamine-N,N'-diacetic-N,N'-(2,2'-dialkane) acids. By means of these values the changes in chelate-forming properties of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid brought about by n- and isoalkyl substitution were investigated.
