Investigation of complex compounds in solution using paper electrophoresis. V. Complexes of stereoisomeric 2,3-diaminobutane-N,N,N',N'-tetraacetic acid

Abstract: On the basis of the curves detd. by the electrophoretic mobility of the complexes, both racemic and meso-2,3-diaminobutane N,N,N',N'-tetraacetic acids (I,II) form with bi- and trivalent central ions, complexes of the same compn. as the ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (III). The stability of I is very close to the stability of III and in some cases it is a little greater. II produces very stable complexes, similar to those of the 1,2 diaminocyclohexanetetracetic acid. The difference in the stability is explained by the steric effect of the structural arrangement of both isomers.
