The isolation of cardioactive glucoside from the leaves of lily of the valley (Convallaria majalis) by countercurrent shaking

Abstract: From the dried leaves of lily of the valley after countercurrent shaking in CHCl₃-EtOH 9:1 and after sepn. in the system CHCl₃-iso-PrOH-H₂O 1:0.5:1 by photocolorimetric method, a new cardioactive glucoside was isolated: m. 187-90° (from MeOH-Et₂O 1:1), [α)23D = -13.3 ± 2° (c = 0.976, MeOH).
