 On solid solutions in the system LiF—Na3AlF6

Abstract: The quasi-binary system LiF-Na3AlF6 has been studied by using thermal and x-ray phase anal. It has been found that there is a eutectic point at LiF 85.0 ± 1, Na3AlF6 15.0 ± 1 mole %, and 696 ± 1° in the system. On the side of Na3AlF6 there is a narrow region of limited solid solns. contg. ≤6 mole % LiF at the eutectic temp. The results are consistent with the conclusions which follow from the thermodn. anal. of the course of liquidus curve of Na3AlF6 in the vicinity of the temp. of fusion of pure cryolite in this system.
