The production of 'V-K' chalk from sugar-beet defecation lime cake

Abstract: Sugar-beet defecation lime cake contains very fine crystals of CaCO₃ and aggregates of CaCO₃ with org. matter which cannot be removed mechanically. Org. matter can be eliminated by the action of alkali hydroxides, aerobic micro.ovrddot.organisms such as Fusarium bulbigenum, heating to 550°, or bleaching with Cl. A chalklike substance contg. 99.0% CaCO₃ is obtained. It is similar to chalk derived from limestone and has a very wide com. use.
